Opting out of the APIRG levy
As a U of A undergraduate student, you pay a levy to APIRG that is collected as Student Fees by the Students' Union. The APIRG dedicated fee was instituted by the Students' Union after a referendum in 2001. We hope that after looking over this website, you would consider the APIRG's work worth the small levy you pay per term.
However, we offer refunds of this levy for both financial and ideological reasons. Please note you won't be able to vote in APIRG's elections or participate on the board if you opt out.
Opt Out Instructions
1. The APIRG dedicated fee is $2.94 per term for full-time students and $1.46 per term for part-time students.
2. To have this fee refunded, you can download and fill out this opt out form [PDF, 88k] and bring it to the APIRG office (North End of HUB Mall, next to stairwell 9111) along with your student ID card and timetable. Forms are also available in the office.
3. During the opt out period, fForms are also available at Information Services Desks (SUB, HUB, CAB), the SU Executive Offices (2-900 SUB) and the APIRG Office.
4. For the 2007/2008 academic year, the opt out periods are Sept. 19 - Oct. 31 2007 (fall term) and Jan. 19 - Feb. 28 2008 (winter term). No refunds will be issued outside of these dates.
5. You can receive your refund for both terms in the fall term if your timetable shows that you will be a registered student in the winter term. Otherwise, you will only be refunded for the current academic term.
6. For more information, email or phone 492-0614.
