Details: Hello esteemed People and Groups who are fostering Hope and Action for Social Change!
This event aims to create a space for networking and discussion following the April 19th demonstration against the Security & Prosperity Partnership – an agreement that seriously threatens the sovereignty of Canada and transcends issues of the environment, peace and human rights. By using the Mind Garden metaphor we hope to see a flourishing of ideas and understanding about the interconnectivity between issues to encourage solidarity between groups and people in our actions for social change. As actors for social change, we would like to have your group bring any info/art/literature about your work and actions so to add to the awareness of different–yet-connected issues. We also hope to have this event act as a volunteer drive; – we are doing massive outreach on campus - informing interested people about groups they can get involved in and future events they can attend. As well we hope to see connections made for future coalition work. We are outreaching not only to political groups, but also to groups involved in art, music and theatre as we feel it is important to transcend mediums of expression and communication when raising awareness about social concerns.

FOLA action: Support the Lubicon ROADTRIP!
... because shareholders just aren't that smart.. yet.

Why:
On April 25 TransCanada is holding their annual shareholders meeting. Over the past few weeks we've learned that some of these shareholders are starting to ask questions about TransCanada's proposed pipeline through Lubicon land. This is great news. FOLA's role now is to help more of the shareholders understand how TransCanada is trying to build on unceded Lubicon land, despite multiple UN recommendations not to do so.
SO, FOLA is going to picket the TransCanada shareholders meeting, hand out pamphlets outside to those attending, and gain a whole lot of media coverage. And you are invited!
We are inviting you on our Calgary road trip to tell TransCanada that we will not stand for that!
We're traveling from Edmonton to Calgary on the morning of April 25. At first we thought we'd rent a bus, but let's face it - we cant afford it. So we're going by car - so far we have 3 cars but are looking for more. Do you have a car and are interested in driving? Or do you live in Calgary already and would like to picket?
