Legal Activist Collective (LAC)
Mandate
The Legal Activist Collective is for students that are interested in a critical analysis of Western justice systems. We work to understand our justice system and its underlying political and economic assumptions from a perspective beyond the status quo. We look at how the law addresses (or fails to satisfactorily address) class, gender, disability, cultural and sexual diversity, and other social issues. We hope to create space for dialogue and present ideas for improvements to the existing system. The Legal Activist Collective seeks to find ways to make law more inclusive, applicable and useful to everyone regardless of income or background.
Goals
The goals of the LAC are to raise awareness of social justice issues related to law amongst the student body and to help students to take action on social justice issues in the community.
