University of Alberta Council of Canadians

Our group was created in response to our frustrations with the state of our government. With the hope that change is possible, the Council of Canadians University of Alberta Chapter is here to take a stand on important political, social, economic, environmental and yes even cultural issues. In 2006 it began and focused on TILMA (the Trade Investment Labour Mobility Agreement) and the SPP (the Security Prosperity Partnership) which are detrimental to Canadians and . There have been a number of successful events in the last two years, such as the two last Water Weeks that discussed water issues such as water rights and water markets through documentaries and speakers. The Council of Canadians UofA Chapter has also been an active contributing group to the two previous Student Delegations to the Oil Sands. Many of our events have been in cooperation with allies such as Greenpeace on Campus.

Join us to get involved and actualize your citizen rights by challenging the corporate unregulated development in the Tar Sands, the growing climate catastrophe, water markets, CETA, and sadly much more.

In solidarity we can effect change!
